For trade suppliers
Building materials: reach vetted trades near you
General materials are bought little and often, and the yard that gets the first order on a job tends to get the rest of it. Being findable at the point a builder is setting up for a new site is what a listing here does, and it puts you in front of tradespeople who have already been checked.
List your businessListing is by application. We check who you are before anything goes live, and we talk you through what a listing costs before you commit to it.
Why Pinnacle exists
Cowboy builders have cost homeowners their savings and good tradespeople their reputation. Most platforms check the company rather than the person behind it, so the ones who turn up and do the work properly get tarred with the same brush.
Pinnacle vets the individual. Our founder, Graham Nash, has spent 25 years helping families rebuild after they were let down, more than 500 of them, sometimes out of his own pocket. That standard is why tradespeople join, and it is why the businesses listed beside them are checked too.
For you that matters in a practical way: every trade reading your listing has been vetted before they got here, on ID, insurance, qualifications and references, and homeowners running projects on Pinnacle see it too. It is a smaller audience than a directory you can buy your way into, and a considerably better qualified one.
Graham's storyWho you would reach
- Builders and groundworkers setting up an extension or a new build, who want one place for blocks, sand, cement and sundries.
- Roofers, renderers and landscapers who buy sundries by the van load and would rather collect from somewhere near the job.
- Small firms working further from home than their usual yard delivers to, looking for a second supplier near a job.
How a listing works
Being listed is being findable, not being sold for. Nobody is sent your details without asking for them.
Apply
Tell us what you supply, where you are and how far you deliver or travel. It takes a few minutes.
We check you
Your company registration, your trading history and anything you have told us you hold. A person does this, and rings you to go through it: anything you hold that the form has no box for, a licence, a registration, a scheme membership, is told to us on that call. We come back to you either way.
Your listing goes live
You appear in the directory under the categories you cover, to anyone searching near you.
They ask for your details
A vetted tradesperson, or a homeowner running a project here, reads your listing and asks for your contact details. That is the point at which you hear from them.
You take it from there
The conversation is yours. We do not quote for you, take the order, or add anything to what you charge.
What we check
Your company registration and trading history, the categories you supply and how far you deliver. Where you tell us you hold a scheme membership or a trade association listing, we record it and check it before your listing goes live.
Being checked is the point of the directory. A trade choosing a supplier here knows somebody looked, which is not something they can assume anywhere else, and it is why we would rather list fewer businesses properly than many on trust.
More about our checksWhat is coming
We record how many times somebody asked for a listed business's details, because that is the figure that means something rather than how many times a page happened to show you.
We are building a view for suppliers that will show you your own. It is not live yet, and we will tell you when it is rather than counting it as a reason to join today.
Homeowners running projects can search the directory too.
Questions trade suppliers ask
Is this different from the builders' merchant category?
A little. Builders' merchants and trade counters run accounts; this category is for anyone supplying general materials, from a yard that also sells to the public to a specialist who delivers a single product. If you do both, tick both and the search finds you under either.
What does my listing actually show?
Your name and logo, the categories you tick, a line for anything the list misses, a link to your website if you give us one, and how far you are from whoever is searching. There is no free text beyond that, so the detail belongs on your website, which the listing links to.
Can I say I deliver rather than just collect?
Not on the listing itself; it shows where you are and how far you are from the person searching. Choose the radius you deliver to on the form and searches within it are ordered by distance with the closest shown first, and whether you deliver is the first thing to answer when they ring.
Who is searching for building materials?
Vetted tradespeople, mostly builders, groundworkers and landscapers, at the point a job near you is about to start, along with homeowners buying materials for their own project.
Ready?
Apply, and we will take it from there.
Applying starts the checks. It is not an instant yes, we tell you where you stand either way, and nothing goes live until you have agreed to it.
